NORTH CANTON, Ohio -- Due to impending the weather, the Walsh Cav Classic at Glenmoor Country Club was shortened to one day of 36 holes and the Allegheny women's golf team finished 14th at the event.
As a unit and the only Division III program in the field, the Gators scored 741 (372-369) on 36 holes. Division II No. 15-ranked Findlay (Ohio) won the team title at 605 (302-303) behind individual medalist Makenzie Torres, who scored 148 (71-77).
Leading the way for Allegheny was senior
Ali Metzger (Canton, Ohio/Jackson) who finished tied for 47th at 172 (85-87). Behind her were four freshmen:
Emily Stelman (Goffstown, N.H./Goffstown) in 61st with a 182 (89-93);
Izzy Krzys (Chagrin Falls, Ohio/Kenston) in 69th with a 192 (100-92);Â
Tori Downey (New Oxford, Pa./New Oxford) at 73rd by shooting 200 (98-102); and
Lauren Mahany (Mars, Pa./Seneca Valley) who was 75th at 208 (111-97).
The Gators will return to the course at the one-day Mercyhurst Invitational at Lake View Country Club on Thursday, April 18.
