Lightning Suspends Allegheny in the Steel City

No make-up date has been announced for Allegheny’s match with La Roche

PITTSBURGH, Pa. – A lightning delay stymied a promising start for the Allegheny College men's soccer team this afternoon as its match with La Roche College was suspended due to the weather.

The Gators went up 1-0 in the fifth minute thanks to a goal from sophomore forward Tolossa Hassan. Junior midfielder Scott Powell set the Evergreen State native up with a cross in front of the box and the sophomore finished it off with one touch.

Weather had other plans for Allegheny as lightning struck in the 34th minute. After a wait of three hours, the match was suspended.

The Gators are back in action this Wednesday as they welcome Geneva to their home turf. That match is scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m. from Frank B. Fuhrer Field.
