GREENCASTLE, Ind.
– The Allegheny women's basketball team re-opened its North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) campaign with an 86-50 loss to No. 1 DePauw on Friday evening at Neal Fieldhouse.

The Gators (6-6 overall, 2-2 NCAC) were led by freshman Emma Pellicano, who scored 12 points against the defending conference regular season and tournament champions.  Senior forward Ann Ryan and sophomore guard Kendall Hoffman tied for the team lead with six rebounds as senior forward Daryl Ford shot 4-of-9 from the field, tallying eight points and five rebounds.

Leading from the outset, the Tigers (12-0 overall, 3-0 NCAC) shut out the Gators in the first two minutes to open with a 7-0 lead.  Allegheny traded baskets with DePauw until the Tigers went on a 15-4 run to take a 24-7 lead with 11:24 remaining in the half.  DePauw, maintaining its No. 1 national ranking in the most recent D3Hoops poll, would close the half with a 37-18 lead.

Pellicano scored 10 of her 12 points in the first, leading an Allegheny bench contingent that outscored DePauw's reserves, 13-8.  The Gators forced 10 DePauw turnovers, led by a pair of first-half steals from Pellicano.

Four Tigers would finish in double digits, led by Junior Alex Gasaway with 15 points.  Senior Ellie Pearson finished one rebound short of a double-double, tallying 11 points and nine boards, including a pair of offensive rebounds.
