GRANVILLE, Ohio –
Senior goalkeeper Andrew Shirley posted a five-save shutout to lead the Allegheny men's soccer team to a 2-0 North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) victory over Denison Saturday afternoon at Barclay-Thomsen Field.

Senior forward David DelGreco continued his incredible hot streak, tallying a goal to push his goal-scoring streak to five consecutive games. Junior midfielder Andrew Miller found the back of the net for the second time in 2012 to help seal the deal for the Gators in the second half.

DelGreco scored his eighth goal of the season off of a settled cross from senior forward Conor Azevedo in the 8th minute, scoring from point blank range by dumping the ball into the lower left corner of the goal. The reigning NCAC Player of the Week has scored six goals in the last five games and three goals in NCAC play.

Shirley dominated between the pipes for the Gators, as Denison shot the ball 23 times, including four shots on net in the second half. The Big Red also held the definitive advantage in corner kicks, taking 13 while Allegheny was shut out from corner kick opportunities. In the second half, Denison took 12 total shots as a stout defensive line led by seniors Timothy Egan, Travis Tasker, Joe Caruso and Keith Danley kept the ball away from the net, giving Shirley the opportunity for the shutout.

Miller put the finishing touches on Allegheny's first conference win of the season in the 34th minute, when senior forward Tyler Danzey crossed the ball to the junior, who, like DelGreco, deposited the cross into the lower left corner of the net. The tally is Miller's first since a season-opening 3-1 win over LaRoche on Sept. 1.

The Gators return to Robertson Athletic Complex on Saturday to face off against conference-rival Wabash at 1 p.m.
