MEADVILLE, Pa.
– The Allegheny women's volleyball team ended the 2012 Gator Invitational on a high note, defeating Frostburg State, 3-0, to win the final match of the five-team tournament.

The Gators (3-9) were led by outside hitter Julia Weeks, who scored 10 digs in the three-set win over the Bobcats (0-12), hitting a .312 clip on the day.  Weeks also recorded four digs and two service aces against Frostburg State.  Freshman defensive specialist Baylie Sheppard finished the two matches with 11 kills and digs, making several crucial diving saves to keep the ball in play for the Gators.

Against Frostburg, the Gators took an early lead but saw it slip away after a Frostburg State run.  The Gators were able to make a crucial two-point run to win the first set, 28-26.  After a 25-14 win in the second game, Allegheny closed the deal with a dominating 25-19 decision in the third.

Freshman setter Jessica Napierata assisted on 26 kills, recording 18 digs for the Gators.  The Gators finished the game with nine service aces, hitting a .256 clip as a team in the third set.

Napierata recorded 12 assists and four digs for the Gators.  Sophomore defensive specialist Catherine Kasianowicz also recorded nine digs.

The Gators will remain home for their next matchup, taking the court on Sept. 18 for their North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) opener against Wooster at 7 p.m.
