GENESEO, N.Y. – The Allegheny men's soccer team dropped a 2-1 decision on the road Monday night (Sept. 7) at SUNY Geneseo.
The Knights scored the lone goal of the opening 45 minutes in the 35th minute off a low shot inside the goalie box.
Lucas Henderson (Wexford, Pa./North Allegheny) had a shot on goal, and the Gators earned a pair of corners in the half, but trailed by a goal going into the second.
Geneseo added to their lead in the 72nd minute, this time scoring off a free kick to increase their advantage to 2-0.
The Gators made up a goal five minutes later.
Ben Keefer (Zelienople, Pa./Seneca Valley) delivered a free kick into the box. After a quick pass across the goal line by Henderson,
Will Gruca (Baden, Pa./Ambridge) guided the ball past the goalkeeper, cutting the lead in half. The goal marked his second of the season.
Allegheny continued to battle but was unable to find the equalizer as they fell in the nonconference contest 2-1.
