MEADVILLE, Pa. -- The Allegheny College field hockey team played it's non-conference finale on Sunday afternoon, dropping a 3-0 decision to the University of Rochester at the Robertson Athletic Complex.
The Yellowjackets (7-2), members of the Liberty League, kept the Gator (5-4) defense on its toes all afternoon. Rochester generated a season-high 31 shot attempts, but was held below it's season-high goal total. Allegheny goalie
Rowan O'Toole (Glen Burnie, Md./Archbishop Spalding) came up with several tough stops and finished the afternoon with 11 saves in a gritty performance.
Although the Gators pieced together a handful of runs, many led by midfielder
Caroline Smith (Colorado Springs, Colo./Liberty), the Yellowjackets limited their scoring opportunities. Perhaps the best chance for a goal came in the third quarter, when Smith found
Megan Seymour (Hamburg, N.Y./Hamburg) open with a well-placed centering pass. However, Seymour's attempt to deflect the ball into the cage that kicked away by the Rochester goalie.
