GREENCASTLE, Ind. – The Allegheny field hockey team traveled to Indiana to face DePauw in North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) play Saturday (Oct. 3), falling to the Tigers 4-2.
The Gators got on the board first in the opening quarter. Off a penalty corner,
Bryce Watford (Parkville, Md./Eastern Technical) found the back of the net to put the Gators on the board off assists by
Maddy Keenan (Pittsburgh, Pa./Penn Trafford) and
Anna Merlack (Gibsonia, Pa./Pine Richland).
DePauw would answer the goal minutes later to tie it up. In the final minutes of the half, the Tigers converted a penalty stroke to take a 2-1 lead into the break.
Coming out of halftime, DePauw tacked on two more goals in the third to push their lead to 4-1.
The Gators offense continued to produce shots the rest of the way, registering 10 in the final 15 minutes. In the final thirty seconds,
Caroline Smith (Colorado Springs, Colo./Liberty) took a long pass and worked through the Tiger defenders before scoring.
