MEADVILLE, Pa. -- The Allegheny College men's soccer team dropped a tightly-contested Presidents' Athletics Conference (PAC) match to the second-place Westminster College Titans on Wednesday (Sept. 23).
The match was a low scoring affair, with both teams even at zero until the second half. But despite Allegheny controlling possession and finishing with a significant lead in shots, the early stalemate was broken by Westminster's Alexis Bennetot, assisted by Zayden Herb, in the 55th minute of the contest.
The Gators would score an equalizer in the 82nd minute in the game. The goal was scored by
Will Gruca (Baden, Pa./Ambridge) on a penalty kick, adding to his team lead in points and making him two-for-two on penalty kicks this season. The tie was then broken by Westminster on a goal from Kohen Salazar in the 87th minute.
The Gators continued its flurry of offensive attempts, with Gruca managing to get off a shot as time expired but was blocked by a defender at the final moment.
