WASHINGTON, Pa. – The Allegheny men's soccer team dropped a road Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) match at Washington and Jefferson Saturday (Sept. 19), 3-1.
The Presidents gained an early advantage as they struck in the sixth minute. They would add to their lead about seven minutes later, scoring off a corner kick.
The Gators made up a goal in the 37th minute.
Micah Khembo (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Catholic) sent a cross in from around the near corner kick area. His pass found the foot of
Cole Bowser (Forest Hill, Md./John Carroll), who quickly capitalized on it to bring the Gators within one. The goal was his first of the year.
In the 57th minute, Washington and Jefferson pushed their lead to two goals once again.
Ben Keefer (Zelienople, Pa./Seneca Valley) had a pair of shots after the goal, but one was stopped and the other was wide of the net.
Nathaniel Jones (Rochester, N.Y./Irondequoit) also had an attempt that went high.
Will Gruca (Baden, Pa./Ambridge) had a quality opportunity on a free-kick in the 81st minute, but his shot was turned away.
The Gator offense continued to put pressure on the Presidents' defense until the end, but were unable to make up the deficit as they fell in conference play.
