CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Allegheny volleyball team opened up a three-game weekend at Case Western Reserve Friday (Sept. 11) with a match against Colorado College, falling to the Tigers in three sets.
Colorado won the sets 25-19, 25-13, 25-22.
The teams were even in the opening set, tied at 13 midway through. The Tigers then won five straight points to take the lead. The two sides continued to trade points back-and-forth, but the Gators were unable to overcome the deficit as they fell 25-19 in the first set.
In the second set, Colorado built an early advantage while limiting the Gators offense, taking the set 25-13.
The Gators jumped out to a 6-0 lead in the third set, leading to a Tiger timeout. Colorado slowly chipped away at the lead, tying the set at 14. Allegheny would go on a 5-0 run to take a 19-16 lead, but the Tigers once again battled back, tying the frame at 19 before pulling away with a 25-22 set win, sealing the match.

- Reilly Mendez (Los Gatos, Calif./Los Gatos) led the team with eight kills.
- Carlee Pepperman (Bellefonte, Pa./Bellefonte Area) was second on the team with seven kills to go alongside eight digs.
- Carly Beers (Warren, Pa./Warren) added six kills.
- Joanna Miller (Pittsburgh, Pa./Gateway) finished with 11 assists and 15 digs.
- Duru Akbas (Ankara, Turkey/Layton Christian Academy (Utah)) had a team-high 17 digs.
