MEADVILLE, Pa. -- For the second time this season, Allegheny College slugger
Ryan Cochran (Pittsburgh, Pa./Deer Lakes) was named to the D3baseball.com Team of the Week.
Cochran, this week's Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Player of the Week, led the Gators to three wins in the last week of the regular season. He batted .462 with six hits, seven runs, and 10 RBIs. Half of his six hits left the yard, and four went for extra bases.
In a 10-9 win at Penn State Behrend, Cochran was 4-for-6 with one double, one home run, two runs scored, and two RBIs. He then racked up eight RBIs in a PAC sweep of Geneva College. In the nightcap, a 12-8 victory, the sophomore crushed two home runs and drove in six.
With three more home runs last week, Cochran moved into a tie for third all-time in single-season history with 14 dingers. Among national leaders, he's tied for eighth in home runs and ranks 11th in both slugging percentage (.823) and total bases (121).
Allegheny begins its PAC tournament run on Wednesday night against Bethany College at Washington and Jefferson College's Ross Memorial Park.
