MEADVILLE, Pa. – The Allegheny softball team hosted Washington and Jefferson in a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) doubleheader Tuesday (April 21), falling to the Presidents in both games.
The Gators dropped game one 8-3 and game two 3-2.
Game One - W&J 8, Allegheny 3
Abby Robinson (Mars, Pa./Mars Area) led-off the bottom of the first with a single to right field.
Samantha Phillips (Pittsburgh, Pa./Mt. Lebanon) advanced her to second on a sacrifice bunt, and she took third on a wild pitch.
Jayla Jones (Pittsburgh, Pa./Avonworth) then drove her in with a single to right field for the first run of the game.
The Presidents gained the lead in the second, scoring three runs to jump ahead 3-1.
After a couple of scoreless innings, the Presidents added two runs in the fifth to push their lead to 5-1.
Samantha Foley (Fombell, Pa./North Catholic) started the bottom of the inning with a double through the right side of the infield that reached the fence. A dropped fly ball and an infield single by Jones loaded the bases.
Morgan Kinney (Brunswick, Ohio/Brunswick) drove in a run with a single as the Gators cut the deficit to 5-2.
Washington and Jefferson tacked on three runs in the sixth as their lead reached 8-2.
Madalyn Myers (Wexford, Pa./Pine-Richland) hit a pinch-hit leadoff double in the bottom of the seventh. A single by Phillips placed runners on the corners. Kinney recorded her second RBI single of the game to cut the lead to 8-3, but the Gators were unable to push another run across as they fell in game one.
Inside the Box
- Jones had a pair of singles, driving a run in.
- Foley also registered a multi-hit game with a double.
- Kinney hit a pair of RBI singles.
- Myers doubled.
- Robinson and Phillips both singled.
- Madison Hulse (San Diego, Calif./Rancho Bernardo) got the start in the circle, striking out two in 4.1 innings.
Game Two - W&J 3, Allegheny 2
The Presidents hit a solo home run in the first to take an early lead.
Similar to the first game, Robinson led-off the Gators with a single before advancing to third on a Phillips sacrifice bunt and a wild pitch. A Jones groundout brought Robinson in to tie the game at one.
After a scoreless second inning, Washington and Jefferson scored twice in the third to regain the lead, 3-1.
The Gators got out of a jam in the top of the sixth to keep the deficit at two runs. In the bottom of the inning, Robinson hit a leadoff double. Jones drove Robinson in off a single up the middle, cutting the deficit to 3-2.
Allegheny kept the Presidents off the bases in the top of the seventh. Foley hit her second double with one out in the bottom of the seventh.
Avery Magee (Chandler, Ariz./Hamilton) then drew a pinch-hit walk to put two runners on. However, the Presidents got out of the jam as the Gators dropped game two.
Inside the Box
- Robinson had two hits, including a double, while scoring twice.
- Jones drove in both Gators runs.
- Foley doubled twice.
- Kennedy Stahl (Warriors Mark, Pa./State College Area) pitched all seven innings for the Gators, allowing just one earned run on eight hits.

- Allegheny is now 12-7 all-time against Washington and Jefferson.
