Softball Travels to Westminster

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. – The Allegheny softball team dropped a road Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) doubleheader at Westminster Saturday (April 18).
 
The Titans won game one 2-0 and game two 7-1.
 
Game One - Westminster 2, Allegheny 0
 
After a scoreless two innings to start, the Titans scored twice in the third to take the lead.
 
Madalyn Myers (Wexford, Pa./Pine-Richland) and Samantha Phillips (Pittsburgh, Pa./Mt. Lebanon) singled in the sixth, but the Gators were unable to push a run through.
 
The two runs scored in the third proved to be the only ones of the game as the Gators fell 2-0.
 
Inside the Box
  • Phillips had a pair of singles.
  • Myers and Morgan Kinney (Brunswick, Ohio/Brunswick) also had a hit.
  • Madison Hulse (San Diego, Calif./Rancho Bernardo) allowed just six hits and two earned runs while striking out three. 
Game Two - Westminster 7, Allegheny 1
 
Similar to the first game, the Titans got on the board first in the third inning with a pair of runs. 
 
The Gators made up a run in the fourth. Allegheny loaded the bases with a hit and a pair of walks. Alaina Sharp (Lewistown, Pa./Mifflin County) hit a sacrifice fly which scored Jayla Jones (Pittsburgh, Pa./Avonworth), cutting the deficit to 2-1. 
 
Over the next three innings, the Titans scored five runs as they pushed their advantage to 7-1. 
 
The Gators were unable to make up the runs in the seventh as they fell to the Titans in game two.
 
Inside the Box
  • Sharp had an RBI sacrifice fly in addition to a single.
  • Phillips and Myers singled.
  • Jones scored a run.
  • Kennedy Stahl (Warriors Mark, Pa./State College Area) pitched the first 4.0 innings while Mackenzie Keber (Freedom, Pa./Ambridge Area) pitched 2.0 innings of relief.

  • Allegheny is now 26-22 all-time against Westminster.
