TRAFFORD, Pa. – Michael Alspaugh (Venetia, Pa./Peters Township) of the Allegheny baseball team was named as the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Newcomer of the Week.
In three games last week, Alspaugh hit .375 while also pitching four scoreless innings.
At the plate, Alspaugh produced three hits in the Gators' doubleheader sweep of Chatham. In game one, he had a pair of hits and stole two bases. The freshman also appeared twice on the mound. In 3.0 innings against Hiram, Alspaugh pitched three innings without allowing a hit and striking out three batters. In game two against Chatham, Alspaugh earned the save without allowing a baserunner in the ninth.
The Gators are back in action Thursday (April 2) as they travel to Kenyon for a non-conference contest.
