Cochran Garners PAC Weekly Award

PAC Release

TRAFFORD, Pa. – Allegheny College sophomore slugger Ryan Cochran (Pittsburgh, Pa./Deer Lakes) was named the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Player of the Week after posting a trio of multi-hit performances last week.

Cochran terrorized opposing pitchers en route to an incredible .700 batting average and 1.300 slugging percentage as Allegheny's designated hitter. He logged team highs in hits (7), runs (6), and extra-base hits (4), and was tied for the team lead in RBIs (3) and stolen bases (2).

In a 13-7 loss at Baldwin Wallace University on Thursday, Cochran smacked a three-run home run, the first homer of his career. He finished the contest 3-for-4 with three RBIs and three runs scored. In a 10-0 win over Waynesburg University in Saturday's series opener, he was a perfect 2-for-2 at the dish and reached base two additional times after being hit by pitches. In the nightcap, a 3-2 walk-off win, Cochran doubled twice and scored once to spark the late comeback.

So far this spring, Cochran has started all but one game and has emerged as one of the top hitters in the Allegheny lineup. With hits in his last four games, he's increased his batting average to .383 and leads all Gators with a .532 on-base percentage.

The Allegheny baseball team continues PAC play with a doubleheader on Tuesday, March 24, beginning at 1 p.m. against Hiram College.
