WAYNESBURG, Pa. – The Allegheny men's soccer team had five different goal scorers as they defeated Waynesburg 6-3 Saturday (Oct. 10) in Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) action.
The Gators struck first after some back-and-forth play to start.
Will Gruca (Baden, Pa./Ambridge) set-up a free kick on the far sideline deep in Waynesburg territory. His low shot trickled through the defenders and into the bottom corner of the net for the goal in the 23rd minute.
Gruca struck again in the 35th minute. The play started when
Cole Bowser (Forest Hill, Md./John Carroll) created a turnover. He raced towards the goal but his shot went off the far post.
Cooper Euziere (Melbourne, Fla./Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy) followed up with a shot that was blocked before Gruca buried that rebound in the back of the net.
Waynesburg got on the board about 10 minutes into the second half off a penalty kick.
Less than a minute after the Waynesburg goal, the Gators struck again. A Gruca pass from midfield found its way to
Arthur Every (Cranleigh, United Kingdom/Glebelands Secondary). After one touch to get around the defender, Every's shot beat the charging goalkeeper as the Allegheny advantage went back to two goals.
In the 63rd minute, the Gators scored their fourth goal.
Colin Hill's (Volant, Pa./Wilmington) pass from midfield found
Miguel Narbona (Cádiz, Spain/Broughton (N.C.)). Narbona made a move around a sliding goalie before scoring his third goal of the season.
About 10 minutes later,
Nick Magee (Venetia, Pa./Peters Township) took a through ball and raced past the Yellowjacket defenders, finessing a shot past the goalkeeper to make it 5-1.
After Waynesburg scored their second goal, Eziuere scored in the 78th minute, heading in a corner by Magee.
The Yellowjackets added a late goal, but it was not enough as the Gators picked up the conference win.
