MEADVILLE, Pa. – The Allegheny men's soccer team played their 2025 home opener Saturday (Sept. 6) against Baldwin Wallace, falling to the Yellow Jackets 4-2.
The Gators got on the board early. In the seventh minute,
Cole Bowser (Forest Hill, Md./John Carroll) took a ball that bounced off the goalie following a
Will Gruca (Baden, Pa./Ambridge service and worked around the goaltender for the game's first goal. It marked his second tally of the season.
The lead stayed for most of the opening half before the Yellow Jackets scored with just over 10 minutes left to send the teams to halftime tied at one.
Allegheny regained the lead in the 58th minute. Gruca made a quick pass through the Yellow Jacket defenders to
Aidan Dyga (Wexford, Pa./North Allegheny). Dyga took it up a couple steps and beat a charging goalkeeper for the strike. The goal was his first of the year.
Baldwin Wallace took their first lead of the game with two quick goals in the 64th and 66th minutes. The Yellow Jackets tacked on a late goal in the 80th minute to seal the win.
