MEADVILLE, Pa. – The Allegheny field hockey team fell in North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) action in Meadville to DePauw, 5-0, Sunday (Sept. 28).
After a scoreless first quarter, the Tigers took the lead on a goal midway through the second. The Gators nearly found the equalizer a few minutes later. Off a penalty corner,
Rhyan Rish's (Dublin, Ohio/Dublin Jerome) shot seemed like it was going to go into the net, but a DePauw defender blocked it at the last second as the Gators went into the half trailing 1-0.
In the third, DePauw once again found the back of the net halfway through the frame as their lead increased to 2-0. The Tigers continued to pressure Allegheny the rest of the frame, but the defense held tough.
Rowan O'Toole (Glen Burnie, Md./Archbishop Spalding) made a stick save at the end of the frame to keep it 2-0 heading into the fourth.
The fourth quarter saw a trio of Tiger goals as the Gators fell at home 5-0.

- DePauw scored a goal in the second and third quarter, and three in the fourth.
- Rish, Samantha Mura (Rochester, N.Y./Irondequoit) and Caroline Smith (Colorado Springs, Colo./Liberty) tallied shots.
