Men’s Soccer Draws with Chatham in PAC Opener

MEADVILLE, Pa. – The Allegheny men's soccer team began Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) play Wednesday (Sept. 24) at home against Chatham, playing the Cougars to a 0-0 draw.
 
Allegheny outpaced the Cougars 12-3 in shots over the opening 45 minutes, but neither team found the back of the net. Of the dozen shots, half were on target for the Gators, including two by Jose Cifuentes (Guatemala City, Guatemala/The Kiski School (Pa.)). On the defensive side, Cadan Bennett (Gibsonia, Pa./Pine-Richland) made a pair of saves.
 
The Gators continued to apply pressure to the Cougar defense in the second half, putting several more shots on target. In the final ten minutes of play, the Gators had a couple key chances. Cole Bowser (Forest Hill, Md./John Carroll) had a pair of attempts turned away, including one off a corner with 90 seconds left. Will Gruca (Baden, Pa./Ambridge) also had a late attempt blocked as the Gators played the Cougars to a scoreless draw.

  • The Gators pressured the Cougars throughout the contest, outshooting their counterparts 28-7.
