Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Late Strike Pushes Brockport Past Allegheny

MEADVILLE, Pa. – A Brockport goal in the 85th minute of play proved to be the lone tally of the contest as the Allegheny women's soccer team fell to the Golden Eagles 1-0 Wednesday (Sept. 17) in Meadville.

The Gators earned scoring opportunities early on, taking three shots in the opening 12 minutes, but were unable to put one in the goal. The rest of the frame was a defensive battle. Allegheny had a 4-2 advantage in shots and a 2-1 edge in corners for the opening 45 minutes as the game was scoreless at the halfway mark.

Allegheny nearly cracked the scoreboard midway through the second half. Savannah Wilde (Lancaster, Ohio/Bloom-Carroll) found Camryn Kunz (New Kensington, Pa./Kiski Area) on  a back heel pass in the box, but Kunz's shot was turned away. Later in the frame, Kunz had another good attempt on net, but was once again saved.

The score remained the same until the 85th minute. The Golden Eagles earned a corner kick. They were able to head the cross into the back of the net, taking the late lead.

The Gators' offense kept up the pressure in the final minutes, earning a close free kick and a late corner. However, they were unable to find the equalizer as the Gators fell 1-0.
