OBERLIN, Ohio -- The Allegheny College men's soccer team scored three unanswered goals to complete a 3-1 come-from-behind victory on the road at Oberlin College on Wednesday night at Shults Field.
The Yeomen (1-6-0) netted the opening goal in the 18th minute, but their lead didn't last for long. Allegheny (2-4-2) evened the score in the 33rd minute following a great pass from
Jacob Kubik-Pauw (Guatemala City, Guatemala/Hanover (N.H.)) from the back line. Kubik-Pauw cleared the ball to
Cole Bowser (Forest Hill, Md./John Carroll), who outraced two Oberlin defenders to create a one-on-one opportunity against the goalie. Bower's left-footed shot beat keeper Lukas Verling to the bottom left corner, tying the score at 1-all.
The stalemate lasted through halftime until the 69th minute. Midfielder
Arthur Every (Cranleigh, United Kingdom/Glebelands Secondary) made a great tackle to steal the ball from the Yeomen in their defensive half of the field. Every then connected with
Nick Magee (Venetia, Pa./Peters Township) on a through ball into the box, and Magee needed only one touch to rifle the game-winner into the upper half of the net.
First-year forward
Ransom Perkins (Columbus, Ohio/St. Charles Preparatory School) added the insurance goal in the 79th minute. Perkins received a pass down the left side before cutting back towards the center of the field. Draped by an Oberlin defender, the freshman got enough juice on his right-footed attempt to score from about 25 yards out.
