CLEVELAND -- Playing for the third time in five days, the Allegheny College men's soccer team suffered a 5-0 setback at Case Western Reserve in a nonconference matchup on Sunday afternoon.
Case Western Reserve (5-0-1), which received votes in the latest United Soccer Coaches Division III Top 25 poll, preserved its unbeaten record with the win against the Gators (1-4-2). The Spartans controlled possession for much of the afternoon and finished with advantages in shots (17-to-4) and corners (6-to-2).
Looking to spoil the clean sheet, the Gators put together a few scoring opportunities late in the second half.
Ransom Perkins (Columbus, Ohio/St. Charles Preparatory School) logged Allegheny's only shot on goal in the 83rd minute, followed quickly by another shot from fellow freshman
Miguel Narbona (Raleigh, N.C./Broughton). Allegheny also earned a corner in the 88th minute, but couldn't direct it on target.
Goalies
Cadan Bennett (Gibsonia, Pa./Pine-Richland) and
Quinn Stefaniak (Butler, Pa./Saint Joseph) each played one half and combined for seven total saves.
