MEADVILLE, Pa. – The Allegheny women's soccer team battled against Fredonia at home Saturday (Sept. 13), but fell to the Blue Devils 1-0.
After 40 minutes of scoreless action, the Blue Devils scored late in the opening half. In the 41st minute after a scramble in the box, the Blue Devils shot the bar from a few yards out off the bottom of the crossbar and across the line for the game's first goal.
The Gators continued to pressure the Fredonia defense in the second half. They outshot the Blue Devils in the frame.
Casey Bender (Allentown, Pa./Emmaus) had a pair of shots on goal while
Karley Johnson (Zionsville, Ind./Zionsville Community) also had one.
In the final minutes, Bender had another good opportunity from about 15 yards out, but the shot went just over the crossbar.
Angela Campbell (Aliquippa, Pa./Hopewell) also had a near tally, but her shot went just wide.
Allegheny continued to press down the stretch, but were unable to find the equalizer as they fell 1-0.
Inside the Box
- Alex Augustine (Fishers, Ind./Hamilton Southeastern) made three stops in goal.
- Bender finished with three shots on goal.
- Savannah Wilde (Lancaster, Ohio/Bloom-Carroll) added two shots on target while Johnson had one.
- The Gators held a slight edge in shots, 19-18.
- Each side earned five corners.

- Allegheny is now 13-8 all-time against Fredonia.
