MEADVILLE, Pa. – The Allegheny field hockey team battled Nazareth for 60 minutes, but fell to the Golden Eagles 1-0 Saturday (Sept. 13) in Meadville.
In the opening two quarters, neither team was able to find the back of the net.
Rowan O'Toole (Glen Burnie, Md./Archbishop Spalding) made six saves in the opening 30 minutes while
Megan Seymour (Hamburg, N.Y./Hamburg),
Caroline Smith (Colorado Springs, Colo./Liberty) and
Samantha Mura (Rochester, N.Y./Irondequoit) had attempts on net.
Maddy Keenan (Pittsburgh, Pa./Penn Trafford) almost got the Gators on the board early in the third, but her shot was stopped on a defensive save.
The Golden Flyers broke up the scoreless game late in the third, scoring on a close shot to take the lead.
Late in the fourth, Smith nearly found an equalizer, but once more, Nazareth made a defensive save to preserve the win.
