ERIE, Pa. – The Allegheny women's soccer team traveled north to Erie for a nonconference contest against Penn State Behrend Wednesday (Sept. 10), falling to the Lions 2-0.
Katherine Surdykowski (Chesterfield, N.J./Northern Burlington County Regional) nearly gave the Gators an early lead, but her header off a corner was just high.
Catie Weiss (Plum, Pa./Plum) also had an attempt on net early on, but the attempt was saved.
The Lions broke up the scoreless game in the 34th minute when they scored from a shot five yards out. That proved to be the only tally of the opening half.
Alex Augustine (Fishers, Ind./Hamilton Southeastern) made eight saves in the second half before the Lions snuck a shot past her in the 67th minute, making it 2-0.
The Lions held the Gators at-bay the rest of the way as Allegheny dropped the road contest.
