Men's Tennis Wraps Up Busy Weekend at Allegheny Invitational

MEADVILLE, Pa. -- The Allegheny College men's tennis team hosted its annual Allegheny Invitational at the Robertson Athletic Complex on Saturday and Sunday to start the fall portion of the 2025-26 schedule.

Across two busy days, the Gators played a combined 55 matches against players from Division I Mercyhurst University, Division II Walsh University, and D-III teams from Baldwin Wallace University and Oberlin College. Most of Allegheny's success came during singles competition, as the Gators earned 15 singles victories over the weekend.

Kristian Janci (Kysucké Nové Mesto, Slovakia/The British International School Shanghai), last year's Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Newcomer of the Year, performed exceptionally well against his D-I and D-II opponents. Janci won both of his singles matches against Mercyhurst's Danylo Rekun and Nikola Radisic in super tiebreakers. He also teamed with Levente Mihaly (Békéscsaba, Hungary/Békéscsabai SZC Széchenyi István) to beat Radisic and Lukas Valverde in doubles action, 7-5.

Freshman Adam Memije (Monroeville, Pa./Gateway) was unbeaten in three singles matches, including a 6-3, 6-2 triumph over Lukas Kohler from Walsh. Memije also took down Oberlin's Cameron Weiss in a super tiebreaker, 6-4, 5-7, 10-6. Fellow freshman Zidaan Hassan (Monroeville, Pa./Gateway) earned two singles wins, highlighted by a marathon battle with Oberlin's Max Brose that needed two tiebreakers for a 6-7 (5), 7-5, 10-4 victory.
