Gators Drop PAC Tournament Game to Grove City

WASHINGTON, Pa. – The third-seed Allegheny baseball team fell to second-seed Grove City, 3-1, at the 2025 Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Championship Tournament Thursday (May 8), hosted by Washington and Jefferson.

After a scoreless first inning, the Wolverines got on the board in the second. They tallied two hits and put one run on the board to take the lead.

The Wolverines loaded the bases in the third with two outs, but the Gators got out of the jam without surrendering a run in the frame.

The Grove City lead grew to 2-0 in the fourth as they scored a second run off a walk and a hit.

The score remained 2-0 until the seventh. William Wolff (Naples, Fla./Gulf Coast) drew a leadoff walk and Liam Irving (Olney, Md./Sherwood) pinch ran for him. A Tommy Landsnes (Richmond, Va./Brunswick Academy) single followed by a JD Robinson (Round Hill, Va./Woodgrove) sacrifice bunt put runners at second and third. Alejandro Samayoa (Katonah, N.Y./John Jay Cross River) drove Irving in with two outs while beating out a throw for an infield single, cutting the lead to 2-1. However, in the bottom of the inning, the Wolverines tacked on an unearned run to push their lead to two once more.

After keeping Grove City off the board in the eighth, the Gators had one more chance in the top of the ninth. Landsnes started the frame with a double, and eventually moved to third, but the Gators were unable to bring any runs across the plate as they fell 3-1.
