PAC Release
MEADVILLE, Pa. -- Two members of the Allegheny College baseball team were recognized by the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) for their performances during the week of March 31 through April 6.
Sophomore slugger
Tommy Landsnes (Richmond, Va./Brunswick Academy) and first-year outfielder
Liam Irving (Olney, Md./Sherwood) were named the PAC's Hitter and Newcomer of the Week, respectively. The duo led the Gators to an undefeated week with conference sweeps of Franciscan University and Thiel College. It's the second time this spring that both were picked for PAC awards during the same week.
After going without a home run through the first 44 games of his Allegheny career, Landsnes broke out the lumber in a big way last week. He batted .500 with a 1.188 slugging percentage, three home runs, eight runs scored, and 13 RBIs. His first collegiate homer was a grand slam in the first half of Friday's doubleheader against Thiel, and he followed up with a two-run bomb in the nightcap. Landsnes then launched a three-run home run on Sunday against Franciscan, accounting for three of his career-high five RBIs.
Irving started all four games in the outfield last week. He batted .571 with a .611 on-base percentage, eight hits, six RBIs, six runs, and two stolen bases. Irving was perfect at the plate in both matchups against Franciscan, finishing 3-for-3 in Wednesday's 10-0 win and 4-for-4 during Sunday's 17-7 victory. He also had one hit with two runs and two RBIs in the 14-4 win in the series opener with the Tomcats on Friday.
Landsnes, Irving, and the Gators will travel to Grove City College for their next PAC doubleheader on Wednesday, April 9, beginning at 1:00 p.m.
