MEADVILLE, Pa. -- The Allegheny College baseball team slugged its way to a 17-7 victory over Franciscan University in the second half of their Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) series on Sunday at Robert M. Garbark '32 Field.
Sunday's contest was a makeup of the nightcap from Wednesday, which was postponed after the opening game was delayed by more than three hours due to rain throughout the early afternoon. With the win, the Gators (15-8, 8-0 PAC) continued their undefeated streak against PAC opponents, sweeping the first four conference series of 2025.
Allegheny once again flexed its muscle at the plate. Two days after hitting a trio of home runs in a doubleheader sweep of Thiel College, the Gators smacked three more homers against the Barons (6-13, 1-5 PAC).
Tommy Landsnes (Richmond, Va./Brunswick Academy) left the yard for the third time in as many games with a three-run shot in the second inning, while
Tyler Skaggs (Champion Heights, Ohio/Champion) extended his home run streak to two consecutive games with a two-run dinger in the seventh. Leading 16-7 in the bottom of the eighth,
Tyson Bryant-Dawson (Oakland, Calif./Manvel (Texas)) quickly enacted the PAC's 10-run mercy rule, pulverizing the first pitch of the inning over the wall in left to end the game.
The Gators needed the extra run support, as both teams utilized their bullpens to staff Sunday's game. Franciscan did its best to keep up with Allegheny's big hitters. Nicholas Peffer and John Fusco both homered for the Barons, with Fusco's three-run homer trimming the Gator lead down to 8-7 in the fifth. However, that would be as close as Franciscan would come to the lead. First-year righty
Alex Nash (Rostraver Township, Pa./Belle Vernon Area) entered out of the bullpen in the sixth and tossed three scoreless frames to end the contest.
