TRAFFORD, Pa. -- Allegheny College pitcher
Parker McRay (Mechanicsville, Va./Atlee) was recognized by the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) as this week's PAC Newcomer of the Week.
Across two appearances, McRay tossed 8.1 scoreless innings with 11 strikeouts. The southpaw entered out of the bullpen in the first game against Grove City College on Wednesday and allowed just one hit with four strikeouts. On Sunday, he made his second collegiate start in Allegheny's 11-5 victory in the nightcap against Bethany College. He completed his longest outing of the season with 5.1 shutout frames and tied a season-high with seven strikeouts.
On the season, McRay ranks third on the team in strikeouts (24) and fifth in innings (17.2).
Allegheny returns to action at Robert M. Garbark '32 Field on Monday, April 14, with 4:00 p.m. meeting with Baldwin Wallace University. The Gators will also host John Carroll University on Wednesday, April 16, at 4:00 p.m.
