MEADVILLE, Pa. -- The Allegheny College men's lacrosse team pummeled Thiel College, 24-2, on a cold Saturday afternoon at Frank B. Fuhrer Field at the Robertson Athletic Complex.
Despite the temperatures, the Gators (5-8, 2-3 PAC) put together a red-hot performance in its largest victory of the season. Allegheny tied its season high and program record with 24 goals while allowing a season-low two goals, resulting in the program's largest margin of victory. Despite an honorable performance by Thiel goalie Ethan Narby, there was little he could do to slow the Gators, who peppered Narby with a season-high 79 shots.
Ten Gators recorded a point, led by another team record from attackman
JP Rakis (Kensington, Md./Walter Johnson). The junior stole the show on Senior Day with a single-game record 15 points on five goals and 10 assists. Fellow attackers
Jack Cushwa (Martinsburg, W.Va./Martinsburg) and
Jason Spindel (Medina, Ohio/University Prep) filled the box score with career outings. Cushwa scored six times with three assists for nine points, and Spindel netted five goals with one assist for six points.
Midfielders
Tyler Rippole (Wexford, Pa./Pine-Richland) and
Tomi Horsley (Salt Lake City, Utah/Brighton) each added a hat trick, while
CT Graniel (Scranton, Pa./Scranton Preparatory) rounded out Allegheny's multi-point scorers with two assists.
