Women's Tennis Ends Spring Break With Loss vs. No. 20 Kenyon

ORLANDO, Fla. -- The Allegheny College women's tennis team wrapped up its week-long trip in Florida with a 7-0 setback against No. 20 nationally-ranked Kenyon College on Friday morning at the USTA National Campus. 

Allegheny (18-4) was dealt just its fourth dual loss of the season but its first defeat against a Division III opponent. The Owls (3-3), whose only losses of the year have come against opponents ranked inside the top 12 in the country, dropped only 13 games across all nine matches.

The top duo of Julia Müsseler (Munich, Germany/Käthe-Kollwitz-Gymnasium) and Rei Etsumi (Honolulu, Hawaii/President William McKinley) took three games from Eleni Lazaridou and Hana Nouaime in the closest doubles bout. Müsseler then faced Shadia Amado Aguad, the No. 17-ranked player in the Central Region, in the No. 1 singles match. The first-year Gator from Germany won two games against Amado Aguad in the opening set before falling 6-2, 6-0.
