ORLANDO, Fla. -- The Allegheny College men's tennis team had its four-match spring break win streak snapped on the last day in Florida, as No. 16 Kenyon College defeated the Gators by a 7-0 score on Friday afternoon.
Kenyon (6-0) remained unbeaten in dual matches after shutting out Allegheny (7-6) at the USTA National Campus. Although the Gators didn't earn a point on the scoreboard, they won the No. 1 doubles match.
The team of
Anton Hedlund (Hovas, Sweden/Katrinelundsgymnasiet) and
Kristian Janci (Kysucké Nové Mesto, Slovakia/The British International School Shanghai) combined to beat the sixth-ranked duo in the Central Region, Kenyon's Paulo Pocasangre and Alejandro Gonzalez. The No. 1 doubles match went to a tiebreaker, where Hedlund and Janci prevailed, 7-6 (4). However, the Owls won the remaining matches and received the point for doubles.
