WESTERVILLE, Ohio -- The Allegheny College men's tennis team wrapped up a busy Saturday with two non-conference victories at Ohio Wesleyan University and Otterbein University by identical scores of 6-1.

The Gators (10-6) began their doubleheader at Ohio Wesleyan (4-3). The only point Allegheny surrendered to the Battling Bishops came after a retirement in the sixth singles contest. The Gators won all three doubles matches and earned four of their five singles wins in straight sets. The exception was a three-set triumph by David Rodriguez (St. Ann's, Trinidad & Tobago/Fatima College) in the No. 3 match against Kobe Francis. Rodriguez rebounded nicely after a 6-4 first-set loss and did not drop a game for the remainder of the match.

Against Otterbein (10-6), Allegheny faced a little more adversity, but the result was the same. Rodriguez and Justin Hardie (Springfield, Va./West Springfield) needed an 8-6 tiebreaker to capture the No. 2 doubles match, 7-6 (6). Senior Anton Hedlund (Hovas, Sweden/Katrinelundsgymnasiet) then cruised to a 6-0, 6-1 victory in the third singles match, while Hardie lost only two games in his 6-1, 6-1 win in the fifth spot.
