GROVE CITY, Pa. -- Allegheny College men's tennis opened its Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) schedule with a 7-0 shutout victory at Grove City College on Thursday afternoon.

The Gators (11-6, 1-0 PAC) won their fourth consecutive match while handing the Wolverines (6-3, 3-1 PAC), who were voted second in the PAC's preseason coaches' poll, their first conference loss of the spring.

Allegheny, ranked 50th in the country in the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Division III poll, swept the doubles portion of the match, including a flawless 6-0 victory by David Rodriguez (St. Ann's, Trinidad & Tobago/Fatima College) and Olivier Erkens (Gouda, Netherlands/Coornhert Gymnasium) against Grove City's No. 2 duo of Isaac DeMan and Ryan Kirkpatrick.

Rodriguez was one of five Gators to win their singles match in straight sets. The junior took down Eric Jordan, 6-1, 6-1, while playing in the fourth spot to extend his singles win streak to seven consecutive matches, the best on the team. Senior Anton Hedlund (Hovas, Sweden/Katrinelundsgymnasiet) needed a second-set tiebreak to defeat Allen Morris in the No. 2 singles match, 6-2, 7-6 (5).
