MEADVILLE, Pa. – The Allegheny women's lacrosse team fell in a close battle with defending Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) champion Grove City, 9-5, Wednesday (March 26) in Meadville.

The Wolverines scored the first three goals of the game. Three minutes later, Ema Caragein (Pittsburgh, Pa./Seton LaSalle) also scored unassisted as it became a one goal game.

The score stayed that way until Grove City scored on a free-position shot six minutes into the second quarter. The Wolverines scored once again before Caragein scored her second unassisted goal of the game with just under 90 seconds remaining in the half. A minute later, Caragein assisted Ava Best (Butler, Pa./Butler) following a save by Macy Simons (Catonsville, Md./Western Tech) on the defensive end as the Gators cut the lead to 5-4 at the half.

In a defensive oriented third quarter, the Wolverines scored the lone goal as they took a 6-4 lead into the final frame.

In the fourth, Grove City scored twice to increase their lead to 8-4. Allegheny took advantage of an extra-player opportunity with five minutes left as an unassisted goal by Caroline Smith (Colorado Springs, Colo./Liberty) cut the lead to 8-5. However, the Wolverines scored the final goal with thirty seconds remaining to seal the win.
