WINTER HAVEN, Fla. – The Allegheny softball opened up their 2025 campaign with a doubleheader at The Spring Games in Florida Sunday (March 2).
The Gators defeated Bluffton 10-0 in the opening game before falling to Bridgewater 2-0 in the second game.
Game One - Allegheny 10, Bluffton 0 (5 innings)
The Gators got to work early, scoring once in the first.
Aleya Belardinelli (Melbourne, Fla./West Shore) hit a one out single up the middle. After advancing on a wild pitch,
Sofia Genareo (Lakewood, N.Y./Southwestern Central) drove her in for the first run of the season.
Allegheny produced five runs in the second on five hits. In her first career at-bat,
Juliana Evans (New Castle, Pa./New Castle) hit the first pitch she saw up the middle.
Audrey Blarr (Clarence, N.Y./Clarence) moved her up on a sacrifice bunt before a single by
Samantha Phillips (Pittsburgh, Pa./Mount Lebanon) put runners on the corner. Belardinelli doubled to left center to bring Evans in to make it 2-0.
Olivia Devries (Kent, Ohio/Field) was walked before another RBI single by Genareo brought it to 3-0.
Avery Magee (Chandler, Ariz./Hamilton) recorded her second hit of the contest, a bases clearing double, as the Gators lead reached 6-0.
The third inning saw the lead reach 8-0. Evans reached on an error and Blarr singled to center. After a double steal, Evans scored on a Phillips single before Belardinelli drove Blarr in on a sacrifice fly.
With the bases loaded in the fourth, an RBI single by Evans drove in a pinch running
Catherine Burkett (Harborcreek, Pa./Harbor Creek) to make it 9-0.
Devries led-off the fifth with a solo home run to bring the score to 10-0. That marked the 14th of her career.
Samantha Dzierba (Colden, N.Y./Orchard Park) limited the Beavers chances offensively as the senior pitcher allowed just one hit and one walk to record the shutout win.
Inside the Box
- Dzierba earned the win for Allegheny, allowing just one hit and striking out nine in five innings of work. The shutout was the seventh of her career.
- Genareo went four-of-four with two runs driven in.
- Phillips, Belardinelli, Magee and Evans all had two hits apiece.
- Belardinelli drove in three runs while Magee knocked in two.
- Devries hit a solo home run.
- Overall, the Gators tallied 14 hits and stole four bases.
Game Two - Bridgewater 2, Allegheny 0
The Gators threatened in the bottom of third after Phillips singled and Devries was walked. However, the Eagles got out of the jam unscathed.
The Eagles took advantage of an error in the fourth, scoring the first run of the game.
Allegheny threatened again in the bottom of the inning. Magee reached on an error.
Julia Perillo (New Fairfield, Conn./New Fairfield) pinch ran and reached second on a sacrifice bunt by
Morgan Kinney (Brunswick, Ohio/Brunswick). She moved to third on a wild pitch, but once more, Bridgewater escaped the inning.
In the top of the fifth, Bridgewater extended their lead to 2-0, once again taking advantage of an error.
That proved to be the final run of the game as the Eagles picked up the 2-0 victory.

- Phillips, Genareo and Rachel Seneca (Harrisburg, Pa./Bishop McDevitt) tallied hits for the Gators.
- Belardinelli allowed four hits and no earned runs while striking out five.

- The Gators are now 3-0 all-time against Bluffton.
