FREDONIA, N.Y. -- The Allegheny College women's lacrosse team fell to Fredonia State by a final score of 14-4 in Wednesday's non-conference matchup at Fredonia's University Stadium.
The Blue Devils (4-1) rattled off their fourth consecutive win and third in a row at home thanks to a strong performance in the second and third quarters.
Ema Caragein (Pittsburgh, Pa./Seton LaSalle) scored the game's first goal for Allegheny (1-4) approximately two-and-a-half minutes into the first quarter. However, Fredonia netted a last-minute goal to even the score at 1-all heading into the second.
Despite the close opening quarter, Fredonia went on a 10-goal run and held the Gators off the scoreboard until late in the third quarter. Not only was the tying goal a woman-down tally, but Emma Cockerel and Mieley Baran found the back of the net with consecutive woman-up goals in the second quarter. First-years
Ava Best (Butler, Pa./Butler) and
Erin Lowthert (Lewisburg, Pa./Lewisburg Area) halted the scoreless drought with back-to-back goals to end the third quarter, but the Blue Devils limited Allegheny to just one goal in the fourth.
