MAYFIELD, Ohio – The Allegheny men's tennis team continued their spring season against fourth-ranked Case Western Reserve Friday afternoon (Feb. 7) at the Mayfield Village Racquet Club in Ohio.
 
The Gators fell to their nationally ranked foes 7-0.
 
Anton Hedlund (Hovas, Sweden/Katrinelundsgymnasiet) and Kristian Janci (Kysucké Nové Mesto, Slovakia/The British International School Shanghai) fell behind 4-1 at first doubles against Anmay Devaraj and Casey Hishinuma before rallying back to tie the match at four. After trading games back-and-forth, the match went into a tiebreaker. The Spartan duo jumped out to a 4-0 lead before the Gator tandem won the next three. However, Case Western Reserve closed out the tiebreaker with three straight points to complete the doubles sweep.
 
At first singles, Janci battled against Ajay Manenthiran, who entered the match ranked 34th in Division III. Manenthiran won a close first set 6-4 before taking the second set 6-2.
 
Hedlund also had a close singles battle, but ultimately fell to Kosseifi 6-4, 6-3 at second singles.
