MEADVILLE, Pa. – The Allegheny women's basketball team concluded the home portion of their 2025 regular season Wednesday (Feb. 19) against Westminster, defeating the Titans 73-62.
Sofia Genareo (Lakewood, N.Y./Southwestern Central) got the Gators out to a fast start as she hit a trio of three pointers in the opening two-and-a-half minutes. The Titans answered with a 9-0 to jump ahead 13-9 before the Gators bounced back in front following a 7-2 run. After the media timeout, the Gators closed out the final minutes of the first quarter on an 8-0 to lead 24-17 after 10 minutes of play.
The Titans put together a 9-0 run to begin the second quarter, taking a 26-24 lead. The Gators were quickly able to recover and once again played well down the stretch. Trailing 26-24, they outpaced the Titans by a 9-7 margin to tie the game at 33 heading into the halftime break.
Jess Bickart (Cranberry Township, Pa./Seneca Valley) led the team with 10 first half points. Genareo had nine while
Emily Lauer (Knox, Pa./Keystone) had six. The Gators hit five three pointers in the half and held a narrow 19-18 edge in rebounding.
The back-and-forth theme carried into the second half as the teams found themselves knotted at 47 apiece at the media timeout. Coming out of the timeout, the Gators rattled off five straight points off a three by Bickart and a putback by Genareo. A late layup by
Ava Kobus (Pittsburgh, Pa./Norwin) gave the team a 54-49 lead after three quarters of play.
Allegheny went on a 7-2 run to start the final quarter, pushing their lead to 61-51. The Gators continued to grow their lead to as much as 17 as they excelled from distance. In the end, the team hit 13 three pointers en route to the conference win.
Inside the Box
- Bickart once again neared a triple double, finishing with 18 points, eight assists and seven rebounds. She hit four three pointers.
- Bella Antonacci (Indiana, Pa./Indiana Area) also had 18 points with four three pointers. She also added four rebounds and four assists.
- Genareo finished with 17 points and five rebounds. She hit five three pointers.
- Lauer was the fourth Gator in double-figures, tallying 10 points with seven rebounds and four assists.
- Kobus had nine rebounds and eight points while Sarah Santicola (Moon Township, Pa./Moon Area) had seven rebounds.
- The team shot 40.6% (28-69) from the field while hitting 13 three pointers. They also had a 43-33 advantage in rebounds.

- Allegheny is now 17-7 overall and 16-3 in PAC play.
- The Gators lead the all-time series 23-12.
- The 13 three pointers in the game is the second most in program history, just one shy of tying the record they set at Washington and Jefferson earlier this month.
