DELAWARE, Ohio -- The Allegheny College women's lacrosse team opened their 2025 season on the road at Ohio Wesleyan University, falling to the Battling Bishops, 19-5, on Saturday afternoon.
The Gators scored the first goal of the season in the opening minute. After taking the initial draw,
Lauren Petrarca (Simi Valley, Calif./Royal) quickly scored the first goal of the year. However, the Battling Bishops tallied the next seven strikes before the Gators got back on the board.
Caroline Smith (Colorado Springs, Colo./Liberty) scored her first career goal in the final minute of the quarter, but the Gators trailed 7-2.
The second quarter saw a similar scoreline as the opening frame. Petrarca scored the first goal for the Gators, while
Kendall Cox (Silver Spring, Md./Albert Einstein) tallied the second mark.
The Battling Bishops increased their lead to 17-5 in the third quarter.
Erin Lowthert (Lewisburg, Pa./Lewisburg Area) scored the lone goal of the frame for Allegheny, the first in her collegiate career.
Allegheny was held off the board in the fourth while Ohio Wesleyan tacked on two more goals for the win.

- Petrarca led the Gators with two goals. Additionally, the senior won eight draw controls.
- Lowthert netted her first goal as a Gator while collecting a team-high six ground balls with three draw controls.
- Smith also scored her first goal, while Cox rounded out the scoring.
- Defensively, Lowthert and Smith caused turnovers.
- Macy Simons (Catonsville, Md./Western Tech) made four saves in the start, while Ella Ashton (Landisville, Pa./Hempfield) made a pair of stops.
