MEADVILLE, Pa. – The Allegheny women's basketball team celebrated their 2025 Senior Day with a 66-54 Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) victory against Saint Vincent Saturday (Feb. 15).
Before the contest, the Gators honored their two seniors:
Sofia Genareo (Lakewood, N.Y./Southwestern Central) and
Emily Lauer (Knox, Pa./Keystone).
The Bearcats jumped out to a 9-4 lead over the opening five minutes. The deficit reached 13-9 before the Gators went on a 9-3 run to pull within three, 16-13. A late Saint Vincent basket gave them an 18-13 lead heading into the second.
Saint Vincent scored the first couple baskets of the second before a 10-2 Gator run pulled them within a point. In that run,
Ava Kobus (Pittsburgh, Pa./Norwin) netted all 10 points for Allegheny. Following the media timeout, Kobus scored her 12th straight points as they took for the first time since the opening minutes. Kobus' run sparked the Gators down the stretch of the opening half as they outpaced the Bearcats 5-2 to take a 30-26 halftime lead.
Kobus led the Gators with a season-high 16 points in the opening half while Lauer added seven. As a team, Allegheny shot 39.4% (13-33) from the field.
After some back-and-forth play to start the third, the Gators picked up the pace in the final five minutes. They outgained the Bearcats 13-3 in the last five minutes as they led 53-38 going into the final frame.
The start of the fourth saw an 8-2 Bearcat run as they narrowed the gap to 55-46. The teams continued to battle back-and-forth the rest of the way, but the Allegheny lead only shrunk to a low of nine points as they picked up the Senior Day win.
Inside the Box
- Allegheny was led by Kobus who scored a career-high 23 points with five rebounds.
- Lauer added 14 points, six rebounds and four assists.
- Jess Bickart (Cranberry Township, Pa./Seneca Valley) neared a double-double with 11 points and nine rebounds.
- Sarah Santicola (Moon Township, Pa./Moon Area) was the fourth Gator in double-figures, finishing with 10 points and seven assists.
- Genareo rounded our scoring with eight points to go alongside six rebounds and four assists.
- Bella Antonacci (Indiana, Pa./Indiana Area) tallied seven assists and five rebounds.
- The Gators finished the game shooting 43.1% (28-65) from the floor with a 43-41 rebounding edge.

- Allegheny is now 16-7 on the season and 15-3 in PAC action.
- In the all-time series, the Gators are 3-7 against the Bearcats.
