WAYNESBURG, Pa. – The Allegheny volleyball team traveled to Waynesburg for a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) match Saturday (Nov. 1), defeating the Yellow Jackets in straight sets.
 
The Gators won the sets 25-18. 25-12, 30-28.
 
The teams were even in the early portions of the opening set until the Gators strung together a pair of 4-0 runs to take a 22-15 lead. A kill by Carlee Pepperman (Bellefonte, Pa./Bellefonte Area) concluded the set as the Gators took it 25-18.
 
Once again in the second set, the teams matched each other early on until the Gators went on a 7-0 run to take 17-10. Allegheny limited Waynesburg to just two more points in the set after that as Allegheny moved ahead with a 25-12 set win.
 
The Gators led early in the third set, but the Yellow Jackets fought back to take the lead at 15-14. The teams continued to battle back-and-forth throughout the remainder. A 3-0 run late in the set gave Waynesburg a set point at 25-24. A kill by Amaya Brooks (North Olmsted, Ohio/Lutheran West) stopped the set point as the teams continued to trade points. Trailing 28-27, the Gators won the final three points on Yellow Jacket errors as they completed the sweep with a 30-28 set three victory.

• Sydney Kirk (Pittsburgh, Pa./Seton LaSalle Catholic) led the Gators with eight kills.
• Pepperman tallied seven kills, six digs and two aces.
• Skyler Fatola (Queen Creek, Ariz./Eastmark) and Brooks both had seven kills while Reilly Mendez (Los Gatos, Calif./Los Gatos) had six.
• Izzy Gray (Erie, Pa./Harbor Creek) and Joanna Miller (Pittsburgh, Pa./Gateway) had 15 assists each.
• Jacy Diaz (Barranquitas, Puerto Rico/Gallatin (Tenn.)) led the backline with 21 digs. 
• Duru Akbas (Ankara, Turkey/Layton Christian Academy (Utah)) had seven digs.
