GREENVILLE, Pa. – The Allegheny volleyball team won the opening set on the road at Thiel Wednesday (Oct. 8), but ultimately fell in Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) action 3-1.
The Tomcats won the sets 13-25, 25-21, 25-11, 25-16.
The Gators gained the early advantage in the opening set. Stringing together some small runs, the Allegheny lead quickly reached 18-10 before a Tomcat timeout. The timeout failed to stop the Gators as they captured the set 25-13.
Thiel took the lead in the beginning of the second set. The Gators went on a 5-1 following a timeout to lower the gap to 17-14. Allegheny kept it close, but the Tomcats took the set 25-21.
The momentum from winning the second set carried over to the third for Thiel as they opened on a 10-2 run. The Gators were unable to overcome the early deficit as they dropped the set 25-11.
The start of the fourth set went back-and-forth before the Tomcats took control with a 4-1 run. The Gators battled back late, but were unable to regain the lead as they fell 25-16, dropping the conference match.

- Skyler Fatola (Queen Creek, Ariz./Eastmark)v led the team with 10 kills.
- Carlee Pepperman (Bellefonte, Pa./Bellefonte Area) finished with seven kills and five digs.
- Carly Beers (Warren, Pa./Warren) had five kills.
- Izzy Gray (Erie, Pa./Harbor Creek) tallied 13 assists and 10 digs.
- Joanna Miller (Pittsburgh, Pa./Gateway) had 10 assists.
- Jacy Diaz (Barranquitas, Puerto Rico/Gallatin (Tenn.)) finished with 14 digs.

- Allegheny is now 29-9 all-time against Thiel.
