Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Second-Half Outburst Leads Women's Soccer to 5-1 Win vs. W&J

MEADVILLE, Pa. -- The Allegheny College women's soccer team erupted for four second-half goals in a lopsided 5-1 Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) victory over Washington and Jefferson College on Wednesday night.

Allegheny (3-6-4, 2-1-2 PAC) grabbed a 1-0 lead in the 29th minute on a high shot ffrom Casey Bender (Allentown, Pa./Emmaus) that sailed over the outstretched hands of the W&J (4-6-2, 1-2-2 PAC) keeper. The Gators then turned the one-goal advantage into a commanding lead with a trio of goals in the 57th and 58th minutes.

In the 57th minute, Delaney David (Cleveland, Ohio/Brooklyn) rattled a shot off the crossbar, but first-year forward Angela Campbell (Aliquippa, Pa./Hopewell) was there to put back the rebound for Allegheny's second goal. Thirty-six seconds later, Madeline Schneider (Poolesville, Md./Stone Ridge School of the Sacred Heart) slipped a bouncing shot through the arms of goalie Molly Schoch.

It only took 46 seconds for Schneider to strike again, as the sophomore standout netted her first two goals of the season in quick succession to widen the gap to 4-0. In the final seconds, Schneider earned an additional point with an assist on a through ball down the right side that set up Allegheny's final score from Savannah Wilde (Lancaster, Ohio/Bloom-Carroll).
