BEAVER FALLS, Pa. – The Allegheny women's soccer team traveled to Geneva, playing the Golden Tornadoes to a 2-2 draw in Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) action Saturday (Oct. 4).
The Gators struck first in the 20th minute.
Delaney David (Cleveland, Ohio/Brooklyn) led
Katherine Surdykowski (Chesterfield, N.J./Northern Burlington County Regional) with a pass through a pair of defenders. After splitting the defenders, Surdykowski shot to the lower far post, past a charging goalkeeper for the goal. The tally marked her fifth of the season.
The lead was short lived as the Golden Tornadoes scored 10 minutes later. They added a second goal late in the half as they led 2-0 at the break.
Allegheny did not need too much time in the second half to find the equalizer. In the 56th minute,
Casey Bender (Allentown, Pa./Emmaus) won a ball deep in the Geneva end. She then crossed it to David. David got a quick foot on it and redirected it to the back of the net, tying the game. The goal marked David's first of the year.
Each team had opportunities the rest of the way, but neither team could find the go-ahead goal as the match ended in a 2-2 draw.
