MEADVILLE, Pa. -- Allegheny College women's tennis extended its win streak to eight in a row to start the 2025 campaign after picking up a pair of 6-1 nonconference victories over Juniata College and the University of Mount Union on Friday.

The Gators (8-0) utilized all 12 players across the two matches, mixing up the singles lineups and rotating the third doubles pairings. 

Allegheny kept the doubles tandems the same in the top two spots during both matches. Evie Ellenberger (Pittsburgh, Pa./Upper St. Clair) and Emiliia Grydnieva (Kyiv, Ukraine/Optima) were undefeated at No. 1, while Gabrielle Bassette (Miami, Fla./Miami Country Day School) and Maria Lounder (Pittsburgh, Pa./Moon Area) finished 2-0 out of the No. 2 spot.

Adriana Navarro (Distrito Central, Honduras/DelCampo School) and Giada Palmieri (Berlin, Germany/Paulsen Gymnasium) were the only Gators to play singles against both opponents. Navarro dropped only two games in a straight-set sweep of Juniata's Skylar Grabarski in the early contest, before edging Mount Union's Hannah Neely in a super tiebreaker, 6-1, 4-6, 12-10. Palmieri was undefeated at the No. 2 position, highlighted by a 6-0, 6-1 defeat of Mount Union's Jillian Lohnes under the lights.
