Surdykowski Scores Twice in 4-0 Win Against Bethany

MEADVILLE, Pa. – The Allegheny women's soccer team hosted Bethany in Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) play Saturday (Oct. 18), defeating the visiting Bison 4-0.
 
After controlling the pace early on, the Gators got on the board in the 30th minute. Karley Johnson (Zionsville, Ind./Zionsville Community) served a corner kick into the box. The service met Katherine Surdykowski (Chesterfield, N.J./Northern Burlington County Regional) who headed it in for the goal. The tally marked her sixth of the year. 
 
The Gators added to their lead in the 71st minute. Savannah Wilde (Lancaster, Ohio/Bloom-Carroll) got past the Bethany defenders and crossed the ball across the goal line. Lauren Bowser (Cabot, Pa./Knoch) crashed it and buried the ball in the back of the net as the lead reached 2-0. The goal marked Boswer's first collegiate strike.
 
The third goal came minutes later. Olivia Wilson (Mars, Pa./Mars) fought through defenders to get a pass ahead to Emma Tikey (Connellsville, Pa./Connellsville). After a couple steps, Tikey scored on a low shot inside the post. The goal was Tikey's first.
 
Surdykowski scored her second goal of the game in the 83rd minute. This time, Surdykowski took the ball on the far side line and worked into the goalie box before scoring on a driving shot.

  • Surdykowski headed in a corner kick by Johnson in the 30th minute. 
  • Wilde assisted Bowser in the 71st minute.
  • Tikey, assisted by Wilson, scored in the 79th minute.
  • Surdykowski scored her second goal of the game in the 83rd minute.
  • Alex Augustine (Fishers, Ind./Hamilton Southeastern) made four saves to earn the shutout.
  • The Gators owned a 21-7 edge in shots as well as an 8-1 edge in corners.

  • Allegheny is now 6-0-0 all-time against Bethany.
  • Surdkowski scored her 18th and 19th career goals.
  • Bowser and Tikey had their first collegiate goal while Wilde had her first assist.
  • Johnson had her sixth career assist while Wilson had her seventh.
