GROVE CITY, Pa. – The Allegheny volleyball team traveled south to Grove City Wednesday (Oct. 15) for a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) contest, picking up the victory in four sets.
Allegheny won the sets 25-22, 17-25, 25-13, 25-19.
The Gators jumped out to an 8-3 lead in the opening set, but the Wolverines took a 9-8 lead following a 6-0 run. The teams continued to go back-and-forth until late in the set. Trailing 19-17, the Gators went on a 5-1 run to take a 22-20 lead. The Wolverines tied it back up at 22, but a kill by
Skyler Fatola (Queen Creek, Ariz./Eastmark) followed by a Grove City error gave Allegheny a set point.
Carlee Pepperman (Bellefonte, Pa./Bellefonte Area) recorded the kill on the next point as the Gators won the opening set 25-22.
The teams traded points to start the second set until the Wolverines rattled off a 9-1 run to take a 12-6 lead. Allegheny fought back but was unable to overcome that run as they fell in the second set 25-17.
After an even start to the set, the Gators strung together a couple runs to take a 16-11 lead. A Grove City timeout failed to stop the Gators as they won set three 25-13.
The momentum carried over to the fourth set for Allegheny as they took a 13-8 lead. The Gators put together a 7-0 as their lead reached 17-8. The Wolverines fought back late but Allegheny closed out the match by winning the set 25-19.
Inside the Box
- Pepperman tied for the team lead in both kills with 14 and digs with 19.
- Amaya Brooks (North Olmsted, Ohio/Lutheran West) matched Pepperman with 14 kills.
- Fatola finished with seven kills and four blocks.
- Sydney Kirk (Pittsburgh, Pa./Seton LaSalle Catholic) and Carly Beers (Warren, Pa./Warren) each had six kills and three blocks.
- Joanna Miller (Pittsburgh, Pa./Gateway) had 22 assists, seven digs and four aces while Izzy Gray (Erie, Pa./Harbor Creek) had 20 assists and four digs.
- Jacy Diaz (Barranquitas, Puerto Rico/Gallatin (Tenn.)) shared the lead with 19 digs.

- Allegheny is now 30-17 all-time against Grove City after splitting the regular season series.
